“This documentary focuses on drag queens living in New York City and their “house” culture, which provides a sense of community and support for the flamboyant and often socially shunned performers. Groups from each house compete in elaborate balls that take cues from the world of fashion.” (source: Wikipedia)

Paris is Burning is a documentary filmed at the height of the New York Ball Room scene. The real-life complement to the fictional BBC series, Pose, Paris is Burning follows the outlandish, unapologetic lives of some of the ball’s most revered and infamous participants. A showcase for the vibrant, real lives of Black and Latino queer individuals, it is celebratory, artful and authentic as it comes.
