InterInvest’s steering committee is made up of volunteers from various investment firms. The committee provides strategic direction for the organisation, and drives specific projects focused on achieving our key objectives.
Cathy Denyer O'Leary
Cathy is a founding member and Chair of InterInvest, and a Senior Operations Manager with Vanguard Asset Management. She has 15 years’ experience in the industry and has held previous roles with Fidelity and Invesco. Cathy chairs Vanguard’s European LGBT+ network, OPEN, and launched their Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Vanguard takes an active role in inclusion initiatives in the industry and is a member of the Diversity Project, where Cathy is part of the LGBT+ workstream. Cathy is originally from Cork, Ireland, holds a degree and Masters in Economics from University College Cork and is studying for a PhD focusing on culture in the workplace. She lives in Hove with her wife Lucy and her second great love is red wine.
Deon is a founding member and Co-Chair of InterInvest, and Head of Fund Reporting and Regulatory change at Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM). Deon has 15 years’ experience in the industry. Prior to LGIM he held various client-focused roles at Barclays Private Wealth. Deon chairs LGIM’s LGBT+ Allies network, and is an LGBT Great role model and the winner of their inaugural award for driving LGBT inclusion in the industry. Originally from South Africa, Deon holds an Electronics Engineering qualification form FET South Africa. He is a mentor, life coach and NLP practitioner, and a keen foodie and food blogger. Deon lives in London and currently has a vacancy for a husband.
Fintan is Legal and Data co-lead on the InterInvest Steerco, and Senior Legal Counsel at M&G Investments. Fintan has eight years’ experience working in financial services including roles at Prudential in Dublin and London. At M&G, Fintan is Co-Chair of the Pride Network, which will celebrate its fifth anniversary in October 2019. The Network aims to foster a safe environment where everyone who identifies as LGBT+ can feel comfortable being open about their gender identity and/or sexual orientation. Fintan is originally from Cavan, Ireland and he holds a Bachelor of Business and Law from University College Dublin and a LL.M. from Trinity College Dublin. Fintan lives in Islington with his brand new French husband, Victor!
Julien is Talent and Visibility co-lead on the InterInvest Steerco, and Global Head of Operational Risk at Fidelity International (FIL). Julien has over 20 years’ experience in the industry having held previous roles at DWS and Deutsche Bank. Through his career Julien has lead the LGBT inclusion agenda at the firms he works in, and currently leads the LGBT inclusion strategy at FIL. Julien holds an MBA, is FRM certified, and is a Stonewall Ambassador. He is passionate about people, art and design, and travel, and co-authors a blog with husband Pierre.
Andrew is Talent and Visibility co-lead on the InterInvest Steerco, and an ABS portfolio manager at Hermes. Andrew has 20 years’ experience working in financial services including roles at BlackRock, ECM and Goldman Sachs. At Hermes, Andrew is a committee member of the Unity network, which promotes an inclusive culture across all diversity strands, and helped establish Hermes’ first Pride week. At BlackRock he was an active member of the OUT & Allies network, responsible for external engagements with various inclusion and diversity initiatives. He holds an MA in Modern and Medieval Languages from Cambridge University. Andrew lives in London with his French husband, Zacharie.
Carol is Legal and Data co-lead on the InterInvest Steerco, and an International Accountant at M&G Investments. Carol has eight years’ experience working in financial services within M&G. Prior to M&G, Carol worked for six years in an audit and accountancy practice in Essex. At M&G, Carol is Co-Chair of the Pride Network, which will celebrate its fifth anniversary in October 2019. The Network aims to foster a safe environment where everyone who identifies as LGBT+ can feel comfortable being open about their gender identity and/or sexual orientation. She is a Chartered Accountant, keen baker and currently training to be a yoga teacher. Carol lives in Essex with her husband, James.
Paul is the Engagement Lead on the InterInvest Steerco, and Senior Government Affairs Manager at the Investment Association (IA), the trade body for the UK-based asset management industry. Paul began his career as a parliamentary researcher for the Liberal Democrats, and moved on to become a government relations consultant at Bell Pottinger. At the IA in 2018, Paul wrote ‘Bringing Our Whole Selves to Work’, a guide on the LGBT+ experience in asset management. Paul is committed to working with IA members to find new ways to attract LGBT+ talent to asset management and show that it is a welcoming and inclusive industry. Paul lives in London.
Suzanne is Marketing lead on the InterInvest Steerco, and a marketing project manager. Suzanne has over 20 years’ experience in the investment management industry. She was head of marketing projects at Legal & General Investment Management for six years where she was an ally and marketing lead for the L&GBT+ Allies network, and initiated L&G’s first Pride logo. Prior to that, she led the digital marketing function at GAM. Suzanne is a long-time ally to the LGBT+ community and believes allies as well as role models are vital in driving diversity and inclusion. Suzanne holds a degree in Philosophy and Sociology, and a post-grad in Journalism. She lives in Kent.
